Hansom

All the dogs I’ve owned have always been strays or rescues.  My husband and I volunteered for an open house at Bastrop County Animal Shelter.  It was great to see some of the BCAS residents being adopted into new homes.  One dog, a sweet lab/hound mix had been there for a while and a volunteer walked him around hoping someone would fall in love with him and adopt him.  The event ended, and unfortunately he was still there.  He was a shy, sweet boy and looked so sad having to go back to his cage.

Well, I felt so sad for him because he kept being overlooked.  He looked at me with his big, brown, soulful eyes.  He just melted my heart and I could not leave without taking him home with us.  He was a very shy boy in the beginning and would run away from my husband.  It didn’t take long for him to get used to his new home, though.  He doesn’t hesitate coming to me, my husband, or his two companions to play.  He’s a very sweet, very loving boy and we are delighted to have Hansom as our newest family member.
