A couple of weeks before Christmas in 1998 a stray dog appeared at the back of the warehouse where my husband worked. The dog was so weak that initially she refused food and simply curled up in a ball. As people offered her parts of their lunches, she began to eat. My husband brought dog food from home and she attached herself to him. My husband called me from work and told me that he had something to tell me. “Are you fired?” I asked. “No, but what about me bringing home a stray dog?” When he brought the dog home, she was very skinny, her hair was thin and patchy and she smelled.
A picture is worth a thousand words. These photos show what Hannah looked like then, and how she looks now – with a combination of nutrition, love and affection.
