My sister adopted Buddy from the Bastrop County Animal Shelter in 2007. Looking at him I thought he was much more my type of dog than hers, but I was happy she adopted him and that she now had a dog. A couple of months later I also adopted a dog from the Bastrop County Animal Shelter, a little dachshund.
My sister brought Buddy over one day while she was visiting, and it was love at first sight! Buddy found a friend and playmate in Delilah. Every morning Buddy would be sitting outside my front gate waiting for me to let him in to see Delilah. Faithfully, I would take him back to my sister’s house, which was a block away. This routine repeated itself day after day, and both my sister and I were worried that Buddy would get hurt coming to my house. So, my sister made the choice to let me “adopt” Buddy.
He is such a joy to be around. He is what I call my “chunky monkey clown dog,” always with a smile on his face! He loves to ride in the car, take walks, be a couch potato or, in his mind, be a lap dog. Buddy and Delilah are inseparable and are the best of friends. While adopting a dog can be a very special experience, being adopted by one is even greater!
